International Student Broadcasting Championship 2024: A Celebration of Collegiate Excellence

Perth, Australia – The International Student Broadcasting Championship (ISBC) has announced its prestigious 2024 winners, recognising exceptional student talent and innovation in radio, podcasting, digital content, and esports casting.

This year’s competition brought together participants from universities and colleges spanning five continents, celebrating creativity, passion, and technical expertise. Winners epitomise the very best in student media excelling across 38 diverse categories including on-air, podcasting, news, sports, audio and video production, social media content and more.

A Truly International Judging Panel

ISBC prides itself on being truly international, with a panel of over 50 expert judges, representing 21+ countries and speaking 18+ languages. These industry leaders ensure that the competition delivers credible and current assessment and feedback, whilst also providing potential networking and professional development opportunities.

 

Showcasing The 2023 Station Of The Year Champions

The live premiere event from ISBC.CO opened with a showcase of last year’s ‘Station Of The Year’ winner and their college - Tiger Radio from the University of Santo Tomas in the Philippines! (ISBC Awards Ceremony viewing | https://isbc.co). The 2024 coveted honour, Station of the Year, was awarded to WJCU, John Carroll University, USA! The title celebrates WJCU and its diverse radio programming that serves their community offering an eclectic mix of music, sports and information.

Notable ISBC 2024 Winners

  • Margaret DiRoma of WOLF Radio (University of West Georgia, USA), who won three individual awards: Best New Podcast, Best Podcast Pitch, and Best News Feature.

  • Toby Penman, Youth’s Choice (Global Academy, England) who achieved back-to-back victories for Best On-Air Talent whilst also winning this year’s Best Music Presenter.

  • Matt & Issy for Breakfast, Shock Radio (University of Salford, England), who also earned consecutive wins for Best On-Air Team.

  • Rising Star: Asha Pickering, BOOM Radio (North Metro TAFE, Western Australia)

  • Best Specialty Show: ‘Indie Hour’ Tshepang Moji, TuksFM (University of Pretoria, South Africa)

  • Best Voiceover: Alan Grant, Juice FM (Cork College FET, Ireland)

  • Best Sports Play-by-Play: Zayden Vergara, CFRC (Queen's University, Canada)

The ISBC team is gearing up for its USA visit in 2025, where they will hand-deliver the college ‘Station Of The Year’ award to WJCU (John Carroll University) and connect with the vibrant college radio market and their institutions as part of their North America tour!
