Shock Radio Redefines Student Broadcasting 🏆

In the most competitive year in ISBC history, Shock Radio didn’t just stand out, they dominated across every layer of modern student media. Crowned ISBC 2025 Station of the Year, Shock proved that elite broadcasting today is not just about what happens on-air, but how a station operates, scales, and delivers across an entire media ecosystem.

Representing the University of Salford, Shock operates as a fully integrated, multi-platform media organisation. Over the past year, they delivered record-breaking performance across every metric, including a 30% increase in listenership, over 50,000 YouTube views (up 81%), and a station-record 194 video uploads. Their output extends far beyond radio, with Shock TV, live-streamed events, and social-first content all working together as one cohesive network.

But what truly set Shock apart was execution at scale. They produced numerous complex, multi-location live broadcasts, including Varsity coverage across five live sites with over 40 crew members, delivering 16 hours of continuous output. They led full-scale productions for major university events, building complete audio, video, and lighting rigs, while also designing the sonic branding and visual identity that elevated each broadcast.

This is a station that doesn’t wait for opportunity, they create it. From delivering 34 outside broadcasts, to raising record-breaking charity funds, Shock Radio demonstrated leadership, professionalism, and consistency at a level rarely seen in student media.

Shock Radio didn’t just win, they set the benchmark for what a modern student media organisation should be.

Now, it’s your turn. Think your station has what it takes to dethrone Shock Radio? The title of Station of the Year is up for grabs. Bring your best! 🏆
